Default 91 300E trunk latch problem

Having a problem with the trunk latch.
The small steel "hook" will not move
so the trunk will not stay closed.

Probable cause: Dirt from hauling
plant material may have clogged
the opening. I attempted to
clean out the area but the problem
persists.

Alignment issue ? Broken spring?
New part needed?

Marsha, just pull the bottom trim from the lower deck lip of the trunk. It just snaps in place, then remove the latch and clean it out.

Please note its position, you may have to fool with it to get it tight. Good luck, Smedley
