4matic problem!!!
watsup guys, im new to the forums, but i did search for like 20 min and nothing popped up for me to solve my problem. i have a 1993 300 e 4matic. the light came one and the car feels like it has no power, the car fels like its towing something u know it feels heavy. i cant seem to figure out the problem. where is the 4matic sensor? is there a way where i can unplug it to make it go back to rear wheel again. i think its engaged in all wheel drive the hole time thats why its losing power? any suggestions would be appreciated. thnx

RE: 4matic problem!!!
Your vehicle MAY HAVE gone into "Limp Home" mode if the warning light that has come on is the Check Engine light (CEL). If so you have an emmissions related problem on the engine which causes it to reduce power etc.
If it is not the CEL what is the logo on the light?
I know nothing about 4matic but in general terms 4 wheel drive shouldn't make any NOTICEABLE differenece to available power.
If it is the CEL you need to get the diagnostic code read to understand what is happening.

RE: 4matic problem!!!
Ok i have 2 lights that are on. one is right in the middle of the speedometer, which is a orange triangle with an ! in the middle of it. and the other one is on the bottom right corner which is an orange light and says 4matic. ive driven a regular 300e before and has alot more power than mine right now. maybe the cats are clogged?? im not sure, but driving on the 4matic is not to safe for everyday driving, i dont want to mess up the trans!

RE: 4matic problem!!!
OK. So you don't have the CEL ON so you are not in Limp.
The orange (yellow) triangle is your ASR system operation light.
This should only be ON when your wheels have reached limit of adhesion (ie about to spin).
Strange another post has a similar problem with the ASR operation light ON all the time also.
Don't have any knowledge/experience of 4matic. I would have expected the system to be operational 100 time but this may not be true....
The ASR system applies the brakes to which ever wheel the system perceives is about to loose adhesion.
Applying the brakes = apparent loss of power.
Does your brake(s) get hot?
Anybody else got any ideas??
