2005 E500
Dear all,
I am considering to buy 2005 E500. What's the general concensus on this perticular model and year?
The car has done 28,000 miles till date, full MB serviced. I will be test driving it today and will take it for a full checkup to see what comes out...
But I would really appreciate it if you all could tell me about the 2005 E500.
Thanks.

I think that's a pretty good deal.
My dadbought a 2003 W211 Mercedes E-500 with roughly around the same miles as you're buyng your Mercedes for around $30,000. When you take it for a spin and you don't hear or feel any malfunctions, I'm pretty sure it's good to go.

I know the early models of the w211s are famous for electrical problems but if you can get one with some kind of warranty, ie from a delear. Then it's a lovely car to go for, E500 drops their prices more and it would be value for money...lovely engine. It looks lovely too...
First if from a dealer it is severely overpriced.
Is it a CPO car?
Are you prepared for the exorbitant cost to maintain it under the cpo if it has one.
get the warranty, have it professionally inspected, pay no more than 27000 and you may have a deal. The w211 had a long way to go on the quality scale and it's reliability.
inspect,inspect,inspect.

somebodys dad got taken if they paid recently 30k for an 03

Omg 30k for an 03(RECENTLY). You got more than taken for paying that price. The W211 are not built as good as W210. Even if you wanted a W211 you could of purchased one at an auction for way less and had it professionaly inspected like OHLORD said. Thats what I did with my 2002 E320 and its only been good to me.
Depends on where the person lived. Me I live in upstate NY and I strore my Mercedes away for the harsh winters except for the C280.For $30,000 I wouldlook at a C Class 4MATIC or a ML350,500. If I lived in lets say Florida I would buy a 2000-2002 sl 500 or 600. Or maybe a CLK or SLK. Dont get me wrong the W211 E Classis an amazing car its just I have herd some stories about the electrical issues. If I did buy one I would get it inspected with a fine tooth comb.
