Default 2003 E500 ?'s

Hey folks, new to the forum. I'm just trying to dig up some info on the 2003 E500 for my father.

I just did a search and it seemed that this year/model seems to be a bit plagued with problems that would keep the mb in and out of a shop. I'm guessing that more people would post about the negatives of their purchase rather than the positive...so maybe it is not as bad as initially seems.

He is looking to sell his Audi A6, which also has had its share of random gremlins. ie. power windows going crazy/oil leaks galore/electronic dash failure/rear view window dripping some type of oil that aids in tinting... [>:]

Anyway, what do you guys think. What are some of the things to check out in this model. Also, he is looking for the sport package model.

Thanks!

MB are no better or worse than most of the prestige manufacturers when it comes to gremlins in the electronics.
Check everything works.
Check that there is an appropriate warranty. MB parts are VERY expensive.
Check that there is a FULL (preferably MB main dealer) service history.
