Default 2002 Mercedes Benz E 320 wagon- P 0702 code

Greetings- Recently purchased this fairly low mileage (120,000) 2002 E 320 in nearby Massachusetts, Was super low on transmission fluid when I found it so decided to trailer it home , Started reading about causes of low transmission fluid and found out that the receptacle that the TCM plug and cable is a common source of leakage. As recommended, I bought a new "receptacle" and installed it with the 7 mm deep socket. Put it all back together including a new trans filter and all new fluid and I only have first gear and no P R N D display. I just took it back apart, removing the new receptacle and found and additional O ring in there. I was certain that I had found the problem ! Cleaned and reassembled all of the new parts and I still have the exact same situation. Can anyone point me in the right direction regarding the trouble shooting of this situation? Thank you, Paul, Providence,
