2001 e430 Won't Start
My 2001 e430 won't start. It has plenty of battery but when I turn the key I don't get any engin turn over. My wife did spill a large coffee by the shift lever, could this have caused an electrical issue?

Disconnect the battery neg. lead.
remove the wood surrond the shifter.Get a can of tuner cleaner and spray it down into the shift module, let sit with a fan blowing on it for a day.Replace thw wood and try the car.If it starts you are lucky,if not you (she)fried the trans module.
R/R is on benzworld.org w210 section.Used modules are sold at mbpartsonline.com for a fair price.
Keep your fingers crossed.

Yep.
Trans control module got wet.
Sugar etc in the mixture shorts the circuitry even when dried out
You could be lucky as ohlord states but I wouldn't hold your breath.
Good luck,
Stuart

Get the spray tube down into any opening in the module. If you look in the manual it will show a spot that you can insert a pen to move the shifter out of park if it is stuck, the tip is in the towing section.
Then let the fan blow before trying to rehook the battery and starting it up.You will have to resync all your windows etc. and that procedure is in the manual.
Yes the shifter is a diy and diy article is on w210 section benzworld.org and modules cheap with warranty at places like mbpartsonline.com cross your fingers the save may work,it has for others that I suggested it too.So maybe you will succeed also
While you have the battery disconnected you might as well charge it since it will be sitting for a few days letting the module dry.
