Default 2000 W210 4Matic broken motor mount perch

Has anyone run into the situation where you go to replace the motor mount and find that the perch/strut is broken instead? Since I have the 4Matic, I am really not looking forward to tackling this job, but may have to. The aluminum perch/strut was stuck to the top of the motor mount and found that the mount really didn't have to be replaced, same size as the new one. The front axle was rubbing on the lower control arm I believe or the body where it passes through on it's way to the steering knuckle and made a grove in it. This is really weird. Anyone tackle this job?? Anyone have any information or hint, tips or anything? I would really appreciate it. Do I need to pull the engine to do this? What do you call this piece? Please advise.
Thanks

Mine is on the left as well. What is the part called?? How much for the part? I don't expect that you would remember every job, but maybe a ballpark? It looks real messy. Any hints/tips? They would be appreciated.
