Default 2000 e320 srs and abs light plus shfter stuck in park

Hello,

I have a 2000 320 that got wet! it's drying now and the battery is on the cahrger but before this I had a guage that was flashing from service required (I think)abs defective, electronic service required. Something to that effect and aslso the srs light stays on along with the brake warning gauges.

The car will start after a couple ot attepmts and is locked in park. The manual is not with me but was told you can stick a pen in somewhere to over ride?

I seen on the internet that to resest I need to go from "Lock-Lock" with the steering wheel a couple of times to reset?

I will dry it out completly and install the recharged battery but any help would be appreciated

Chuck

yeah on the shifter itself is the little door below the D....push a pen or pencil down in there and youll be able to release from Park but then youll find that it will probably bang into gear and just might not shift.

Hi, I have it apart and have pushed the button. It worked and popped out of park, I now have reverse and drive but can't get to come out of low gear. Once I put it back in park I need to go through the same things again with no different result. I have removed all the plugs, cleaned and dried them. Put everything back together and same thing. Locked in Park! Is there some way to reset this or trouble shoot the problem. Thanks in advance

Seems like you are in limp mode. Only an SDS or DAS system can reset the code from a dealer or and indy with the system.

Do you have wirecord from the brakepedal down to the transmission?if the plastic housing into the transmission is broken you will not be able to release from P.If the shifter had some water its short circuited for sure, you have to replace it.Maybe its possible to replace only the printboard,i dont know.

Hi again, I am making progress and have it so that it will go in gear and shift properly. All warnings are off but the SRS and it still needs to be removed from Park by using the release button. Only 1 thing now is the Park. Is the SRS related to this?

I have just tied a string to the top of the solenoid or park release for now and when I need to go out of Park I just lift it and shift then everything is normal from then. The solenoid needs to be lifted to get out of Park and then released back to come back in to park or I would have just made it open all the time.

Any ideas? I will check the cable to the transmission and can see a cable coming into the shifter which I thought was loose.
