Default 05 E500 Hot air from rear Air conditioner

I just recently bought my mom a 05 E500 from the auction. The rear air conditioner vents only blow out hot air. The front vents work fine.

If you move the temp to max hot then back down in the rear it comes out good for about 5 minutes then returns to being hot. So Im sure the mix motors are working but don't know why the system is failing.

I'm gonna take the car to get recharged and was wondering if anyone knows of a problem like this. And if anyone can give me a brief description of the climate control system. I'm good with car but not Mercedes.

I'm also wondering if anyone knows a good Mercedes mechanic in my area..I live in Corona California. 92882.

Thanks anything would be helpful

Hi,

Exactly the same happened to my 2004 E500... right after I changed the main battery yesterday. Please let me know if you have found a solution to your problem.
(It looks to me like another undocumented "synchronization procedure" one needs to go through after changing the battery himself.)

Thanks, and good luck!

I have recently replaced the under the hood battery. The little one. Im sure its not the main battery, it like a secondary battery. The a/c worked great when we bought the car. Maybe this could be my reason too. Thanks for the idea. Hopefully I can figure it out without taking it to Mercedes.

This must be the year. All of a sudden, my 2005 E500 started blowing out hot air, and living here along the coast in SC ... its flipping hot. Does anyone have a fix for it? Or is it like anything else on a merc... take it to the expensive dealer. I look forward to hearing replies.

you need to replace the water shut off valve under the wiper assembly. and then your problem will be fixed. 50 dollar part.

Yeah it was the heater shut valve. A pretty easy fix and it didnt take me more than 2 hours to replace. It costed me 150 to get it diagnosed at the dealership and $50 for the part. Works great now. And only the dealer will have the part.

In repect to the dealership they did help me diagnose 2 other problems afterwards with that same $150. Just had to ask for a little bit of help.

Thanks for the help. Forum work great.

I've had this issue for 3 years and the dealer could never find it, would always tell me everything is working fine. Thanks for posting the info.
