Hi all:

After reading about the spring perch problems, I spent some time checking them on my car. 2000 E320 with 68,000 miles.
They look very clean and actually seem to have some "Oil" around them. (Waxoil?)

My question is: I have seen photos and have read stories of the perches breaking and being run over while the spring travels down the road.
How can this happen when the spring and perch are basically contained by the shock absorber unit? Somewhat similar to a Mcpherson strut.

Just curious, and wondering if my model is not effected.
