1st time purchaser needs help
I'm considering purchasing a 2001 E320 sedan with sport package. It has only 20,000 miles and is in mint condition, having been meticulously cared for.
There are three factors of the purchase that havegiven me cause for concern:
1) Although the car has been maintained in unbelievable condition, is the pricea little steep?
2) Reliability is a major consideration for me when purchasing a car, should I be concerned about reliability?
3) Although I anticipate driving the car for several years, there is a chance I may have to resell the car within a year or two. How should the car’s resell value hold up once its nine to ten years old?
Any input would be sincerely appreciated.
Thanks.

They are a wonderfull car. I have the 02 E320 and t has been great. I bought it about a year old and no real biggies so far. Where is car being sold from? Dealer? Private sale?

Its through a private party in the Pacific Northwest. I know the seller very well and know that a car could not be babied anymore than this one has. Also, I failed to mention that, besides the sport package upgrade, the car has few other options or upgrades. However, the car truly does appear to be flawless, all it lacks is the new car scent, otherwise I would swear it was brand new.

How much do they want?
Have you had it inspected?
Market for 01's in top condition is about 11k and dropping.Expect in two years to be down in the 8tho range.Quality issues, rust issues, electronics issues.
inspect,inspect.

That is insane high,I just located a 2001 for a member in the midwest and the private seller wants 10.5 and that is high.average privat party on an 01 with 20k miles is 13k,get him down to that and you have a deal otherwise expect to be very disappointed when in two years you have lost 10grand because you paid to much.Forget options they add nothing to a private party value.Condition is clean,no car is ever exceptional unless it is brand new or of collector value.

Edmunds is a good indicator of real world pricing.A 99 loaded with 40k miles in mint condition just sold for 10k on the east coast. For 18 grand you can pick up fully loaded E55 AMG's with low miles.
Nothing I can do to twist your arm other than say
"don't tell me I didn't tell you so"

Good laugh
I cannot believe the off the wall prices these people come up with.
But when people will even consider 18plus for an 01
when they can be picked up for 5or 6 less,
and by summer when the new models appear the prices will dip even further.
I bought a mint 1999 wagon over a year ago low miles for $9500,
just saw a listing for a 1999 wagon over 100k miles that a private party
thought they could get 17k.It will grow mold first if they don't come down to reality.
Thanks for the joke
