1998 E420 or 2002 E320? I need your help guys
Finally I get rid of that troubleprone 2004 E500 B4. I have 2 choices now: a 1998 E420 Black exterior, black interior with 39,375 miles or a 2002 E320 Black exterior, java interior with 45,625 miles. Price difference is 8,000 dolars, 2002 the expensive one. What should I do? I have an 1998 E320 and I´m happy with it, but I reaaally like the V8. On the other hand I also prefer the 2000-2002 W210s interiors. Please help.
Any links to these cars? I have the 2002 E320 and its been great. It rides, performes and gets great MPG. Test drive both of them and decide the pros and cons of each. Let us know
I live in Mexico. Here there were E420s and E430s for the 98 model year. Asked prices (non uncommon here) are: 1998 E420 Avantgarde = $ 9230 USD; 2002 E320 Elegance, AMG 17" rims= $ 15,300 USD. Both cars have around 43,000 miles. I remember something about some kind of problem with the 420 engine, but I´m not sure.
M119(E420) lose the plastic oil guides and the engine start tapping like a bad lifter.Great engine otherwise(they hate water,so never wash one down with pressure or if you get misfires after running through a big flash flood you will know why it is running crappy.
The 02 is more modern, better by far on fuel and at the same miles has less virtual age to all of its rubber components and drive train. You might want to see if they will come down in price after you get a complete pro inspection.02 for 13K in Mexico would be in line market wise.
inspect,inspect,inspect.........

Thank you ohlord. I´m leaning toward the 02, with the AMG rims it looks great. Only problem is color, Emerald Black. All my MBs has been silver (except a red SLK). I´ll keep you posted. I like "Cheap Thrills", you know what I mean.
