I have a brake light assembly that is not making connection with the bulb socket. The light works sometimes but is not a reliable connection. Does anyone have a good source for a tail light assembly for the driver's side?

Not sure what an early 210 has, but on mine, I pulled the assembly out, sanded the contact areas between the bulb holder and the buss, and then disassembled the bub sockets so I could reform and sand the contact areas for a good connection.

A few minutes time and no money spent.

I have had the same issue... have replaced bulbs over the years and the problem goes away for a long time... then comes back. When I slap the taillights they come back on. There is a loose connection or corrosion etc... somewhere. I will have to dig into this as the issue just resurfaced this week.

You know I found an original on ebay. I purchased that one and it worked out great. I should have done this a long time ago.

 

I had the same problem. First, I went to the MB dealer and bought a new bulb socket. It worked for awhile, then no light. I had kept the old socket so I took some needle nose pliers and gently bent the small contacts on the old socket up a bit. I figured what the heck - it was the old socket. Well it worked and has been working for the past month or more. I wish I had tried it before I spent the $14 for the new socket. The entire light unit is about $125 or so if I recall correctly.

By the way, I did the same thing to the rear deck center brake light. I slid the entire light assy out and found the contacts were worn down for some reason. I bent them up and the brake light works fine. That one saved me about $60. Hope it helps!
