I'm curious if anyone has upgraded to performance suspension on this (or E class) car and your satisfaction/opinion.

I intend to do the following:

1. Sway bars: replace front - 26.5 mm up to 28; rear 16 mm up to 18
2. Eibach springs - dropping 1.4 inches in front and 1.6 inches in rear
3. Replace Bilstein shocks (anybody have a recommendation on shocks?)

I'll be doing all the work myself.

Very curious if anyone has done this, and if you think it was worth the time and effort.

Thanks!

Jim

The stock Bilsteins are ok but need changing anyway since car has 90,000. I want to put on new shocks since I'm putting stiffer, lower coils on.

There would be nothing wrong with keeping the Bilstein's, if there's nothing wrong with the shock itself! It would take a lot to tire out a Bilstein shock! Moreover, they're warranted for a very, very longtime. I believe lifetime. Of course things do wear out, but Bilstein has a pretty good rep. But if you just want to change them, just to soothe your ego or conscience, then you may want to look into a stiffer Bilstein.
