Default 1985 300E Starts & Stops Starts & Stops

Hi All,
My first post so gentle please Seriously I have a 1985 300E 12000km from new.(my baby) I had a petrol smell last week and found that a small unit behind the Injector unit leaking. I purchased 2 small rubber grommets from MB and fitted them, now no leak, but the car will only start for a second and then stop, I start again and the same. it is as if it is being starved of petrol. I never had a problem since new, allways started first time and even with this small leak it drove out the garage. When I replaced the grommets it just Starts & Stops. Any help will be greatfully appreciated. I live in Spain and I only speak a little spanish, so it's difficult to communicate the problem. The unit that fitted to is brass with 2 ally screws holding it against the injector casing with the 2 grommets embedded in and an electrical connector attached to the brass piece. I hope the description helps?
Rgds

Mabuhay Sleepwalker,
Thank you very much for your fast response, You want me to get a photo of the unit I replaced rubber grommets? the unit I gave description of? Sorry for seeming to be an idiot but I am not sure of all the components names. I will post photo anyway later today and try to give more information.
Paalam Salamat

item #29?

Electro Hydraulic Actuator.

it controls the injection pressure (operating).

Yes sleepwalker, thats the unit (29) The car was running ok before I replaced the 2 grommets (32) to stop the leak. Have you any idea what I have done wrong? See picture as per your diagram! Can you point my nose in a possible direction to solving this frustrating problem.
Warmest regards
nkosi

i only know that the operating pressure chamber is losing pressure. the thermal plate inside is not working well.

if you pull the electrical connection, the problem still happens?

that electrohydraulic actuator is causing the problem. it has internal leak.

can it be possible that a broken piece of an O-ring have lodge inside?

Thanks for fast reply,
It is not possible for a broken piece to be in the unit as both "O" rings came out as new, not any visable damage, they did not appear to be faulty still soft and pliable. I will remove the unit and check for a blockage? Should I be able to blow through the holes on the unit, if I blow through one hole, can I feel it comming out of the other hole? Also could it be the electrical plug connection? After I fitted the new "O" rings there did not seem to to be any more petrol leak! I will take apart and give it a good inspection. Just an idea could another part of the system possibly create a pressure build up and make the "O" rings leak? just a thought
Once again thank you for your prompt answer.
Kindest regards

Magandang Gabi Sleepwalker,
Sort of ignore the last post. I stripped the unit down to check for an obstruction, found none and reassembled the unit and the engine ran perfectly but the unit is again pissing out petrol(this was my first problem) I stripped it down again and turned the "O" rings around re-fitted unit and made sure the screws were tight (not overtight) and petrol seems to be coming out of some small holes in the body of the unit and also from the seal. Could the unit be faulty? and do the seals "O" rings have to be changed each time the unit is removed? More importantly what am I doing wrong, it seems just a simple job, but petrol still leaking. Salamat, your expert advice is most welcomed.
Kind Regards
nkosi (aka Bryn)

petrol still leaking
internal leak na nga sya. dapat palitan mo na.

here is some function description to give you idea on why the pressure plays a big role inside.
