Default '02 E320 oil consumption?

My recently purchased 2002 E320 wagon is using around 1 qt. of oil every 1600 miles- 96,000mi. I found a post regarding the ML320 that recommended cleaning the EGR valve and running some emissions cleaner through the gas tank- does this apply? Any suggestions/opinions appreciated.
BTW- I'm running 91 octane, but unknown what the previous owner did.

I don't consider this to be untypical (or a problem) consumption at this mileage.

I don't believe any of the work arounds that you mention will improve (reduce) oil consumption.

What oil are you using?

0w-40 synthethic or some "thin" 0-30 mineral stuff?

Stuart.
