Default Is this 01 E320 Wagon a good buy?

I'm looking for either a 01 or 02 E320 wagon for my wife to drive and thought I had found the perfect deal until the test drive. It is an 01 E320 with 51,200 miles and seems to be well maintained. Half way through the test drive the check engine light turned on as well as the deffective lamp alarm. Back at the dealership I opened the hood to look around and noticed the oil filler cap was off so I replaced it. Would that cause the check engine light to appear? I also noticed the fan blower continually made rapid changes in speed while sitting at an idle if it was set to auto. Is that normal? According to the Carfax report, the car hasn't been involved in accidents but I don't believe it's accurate, the left headlamp has been replaced. The report also shows "Electrical System Serviced" in Feb. 2006, Mar. 2006, and again Nov. 2007. Does that appear to be a red flag to any of you? I can get the car for $12,200 but I'm hoping for a bit less, it needs new tires and a couple of other things.

Good buy?

Thanks!!!

Yes the oil cap off will throw a code. You need to have it inspected,by another shop.
Private paid accident repair out of pocket will not show up on carfax.
low miles, probably an auction car or trade in,over priced by a few tho.If you are financing and not paying cash and are not willing to do your own repairs and regular upkeep,Run...........
lots of w210 wagons, private party sales cash,in great shape for less money.
good buy? I say good bye

Ok so now I'm intrigued, I bought an 02 4matic E320 wagon with 60k miles. Dealer maintained, and as imaculate as you'd find. I paid $18,800. This was in June.I paid too much?

I would say I got ripped off but I think you should of got the price down more. Best of luck with it.
