Hard wire a Pogo Alert in CLS 500
I have purchased a Pogo Alert GPS/laser camera detector to use in my CLS 500, and I would prefer to hard-wire it into the ignition, to avoid external cable running to the cigar lighter.
Mercedes have quoted c. 2-3 hours for this job - stating that it requires undoing the dashboard etc to do a proper job (and obviously at their high labour rates that is big bucks).
Several other self-acclaimed in-car electronics companies have quoted c. half an hour to do the job - at much lower hourly rates, and hence would be significantly cheaper.
Does anybody experience of this, to know whether MB are just bull-****ting, or whether it really is best to pay a huge sum for this job.
Thanks.

Well, I came here to report what the problem was, when I noticed this review was gone. Now that it's back, I can report. According to the AMG mechanic, there was the wire that was mis-alligned, and was coming loose very quickly. He also stated that if I had gone another 100-250 miles, it would have come completely dislodged and re-lodge its self in my engine. I had to pay nothing out of my pocket for the exclusive auto parts deals services , just as it should be.
