Hi Please can anyone help ? I have a 2000 model 230K coupe. The metal retaining strap (or whatever you call the thing that stops the door flying open too wide broke today when I opened the door and it turns out has damaged the channel that the window runs up and down in at the same time, so the window is stuck halfway and will not move up or down. Ive had a guy look at it and he says that I may have to have a whole new door as the channel is welded to it and cannot be replaced. Anyone ever had this prob or know another solution. Seems crazy to have to change the whole door for what is essentially a slightly bent runner ??!

 

replacing the door sounds stupid. get someone who knows what the hell they are talking about. find someone who can break into that door and show you the problem. there has got to be any easy fix for that.

 

Thanks for replying - They found a guy who managed to repair it - not an easy job, but a lot cheaper than a new door.
