Default Tread life - 17" Continental SportContact 2

Does anyone have any idea approximately how many miles I can get out of the new tires on my car? I just got a CLK 350 (2006) and it came with Continental ContiSportContact 2 tires. I know it depends on how you drive, but does anyone have any idea how many miles I will get out of these, assuming I drive like and old lady, putting half highway, half city driving?

The treadwear rating is estimated at 280 for whatever that is worth.

Racing Pirelli p-zeros with gummy compound are rated about 140, and lasted me 3 months/4k miles

Michellin all seasons on the mini van are rated 680, and lasted about 70k.

I will guess, based on my experience, that your tires will last 20k miles, probably one year.

I am actually sort of annoyed by this. I have 17" rims and the only tires in my size are racing/sport tires.
I have been shopping for a higher mileage tire, since I never drive over 75 mph. Not much out there, so I have to commute through the schoolzones and snow in racing tires. (?) What a waste.

Well, I have a 2006 CLK with the same tires on it. I do drive faster and more aggressively and have about 13,700 miles on my car.... the back tires are shot! Ive milked them for all they are worth and even got a flat on the right rear tire last night. So, Im shopping new tires for the rear as we speak. So, you will get no more than 10-15,000 miles out of them most likely. Even my service advisor said that. The bummer is that you cannot rotate the tires AT all.... so the rear tires will burn up much faster since its a rear wheel drive car.

Anyone have suggestions for new tires?

Hi, I have a CLK500 and the rears last around 16K and fronts around 25K. I have just decided to try Michelin tyres to see how they last. I have 48K on the car now.
Anyone have experience of Michelin on a CLK?

If you are NOT interested in performance-handling, but rather driving to work or school, the "Michellin Pilot A/S" have a treadwear rating of 400. My set has lasted two years, and still have most of the tread.
