Default Tranny problems

So I'm driving home a couple of weeks ago and my car (00 CLK320) made a pretty ugly thud when she shifted gears. Next thing I know the check engine light comes on and she won't shift any more, felt like she was stuck in 2nd. I think I'm in the limp home mode. I take it to the dealership the next day. Taking side roads all the way, 'cuz she still stuck in 2nd. The dealer checks it all out, and said that the touch shift was stuck, so they changed the shifter. All is well and good for about 2 weeks until it did it again the other day. Only difference, is the CE light didn't come on this time, and it seems to have corrected itself after turning the engine off and then back on. Any thougts?

faulty ETC control mudule.

the supply voltage to the valve is too low, and emergency mode is activated. (2nd gear only and reverse).

Hey Sleepwalker, I got the car back from the dealer yesterday and he said that a "speed sensor" wasn't sending info to the computer. Does that sound logical or just a "shot in the dark" fix?

he must be specific.
we got 2 speed sensor on the valve body (actual and slip).
we also got 4 speed sensors on the car (1 in every wheel).

if possible, ask for the fault codes.
