Default some info on 06 clk 500...

Hey guys,
I am obviously new to this site and I am interested in the 06 clk 500 (I currently own a 02 Lexus Is 300) and its time for me to move up. I have heard rumors that mercedes vehicles are not reliable and so I would like you guys to reassure me that in fact they are reliable and good cars. I am absolutely in love with the clk 500! I went to the dealership the other day to test drive it and wow! Please give me ur experience with the car and tell me how much you like it, and if you have ever experienced any problems. I would also be interested in putting some rims and stuff on the car (my IS is hooked up to the max), but I do not know anything about hooking up a mercedes! I guess once I get the car, that will be a good time to ask, but give me some input on that too! Anyway , thanks in advance!

CLK500 is a very nice car...
Most MB owners may have had minor issues here and there, but mostly resolved itself or under warranty.
It is definitely a reliable & fun car...
I'll hook you up with anything you want on your upcoming W209...
Plus you are local so we can save up s/h....
BTW, welcome to MercedesForum!

I would understand buying the 500 if you were living in Italy or Germany or any other high speed European country but I think buying a 500 is not worth your money in the States as a 350 would be enough for the speed you will be going.

Most of cars in Germany are 4-cylinders, but they have much higher cc/hp ratio.
Italy is having 130 kph limit, although lot of drivers there do 180 kph.
To drive 65-70 MPH limits in USA all you need is 2-cylinders on compact car.
Whatever more is for the acceleration, showing-off and stupidity
Didn't own 500, but had a big looser, BMW 750. Most of the problems with those cars are poorly design electronics and electric systems.
MB mechanics are famous for generations.

In Italy, when you are going with 180 kph, you cannot occupy the left lane because there will be people going 210 who will be flashing lights at you. In Germany, rich people drive large engine cars as fuel is so much expensive compared to the States. In those countries, you would need the acceleration and top speed of a 500 as racing is a very usual thing in the highways and people race in speeds more than 180-200 kph.

Let's not spread myths here. The situation you described MIGHT happen on rare occasions, but not in common driving.
When I was driving 180 kph across Italy nobody ever passed me over. I was driving 90 HP diesel wagon at the time.
Germany years ago had lot of drivers doing 200+kph, but last time, when I was crossing this country, cruising at 200 kph I met only 3 drivers, that could keep up with me for short periods. Fact is, that the weather was bad and most of my trip was on the former DDR territory.

I think having no reply for weeks or, month on the subject would be pretty boring loveallnightlong?
You did appreciate the welcome, didn't you?
