I recently bought a 2002 CLK55 AMG. I think I got a great deal on the car (got it for $2500) but it only came with a single Key FOB. This is the first Mercedes I have ever owned so I am researching the most fiscally smart way to get a new/second Key FOB for the car. I see many offered on Amazon and eBay but I also see posts online that say most dealerships will not program those. Other question I have is...does the car need to be present to program a new Key FOB or can I just bring the existing/working Key FOB that I have?

 

Mercedes can make you a new key without the vehicle being present at the cost of $450-$650 depending on your area ....otherwise you can have a key made by anyone who can do a double sided Lazer cut key only with the vehicle present....it's still gonna cost you minimum $300
