Recently purchased a 2005 CLK 320 and need to understand what is involved in reconnection of front passenger seat front airbag. Previous user had childseats and evry time you switch on the airbags light comes on for about 10 seconds. I understand the only airbag affected is the front one, is this possible to do or does it require a visit to a Merc shop. The PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF sign cancels after eight to ten seconds, can someone offer some advice please.

Also car is shortly due for an 'A' service, what is normally involved during this service and what is likely costing through and independent garage. i am located in Leicestershire. Only just joined the forum today so please get in touch

the airbag light will come on on for the first few seconds of starting the car. then it should go out. the "airbag off" light will be off when noone is in the passenger seat or when a small child is in the seat. you could need a new front seat weight sensing pad or could need a weight calibration done at a dealer.
