Default Oil sensor leak vs oil sensor gasket leak

last December, I had the oil-level-sensor o-ring replaced on my 2003 CLK320 (at the dealer) - about $390 labor and part
Had the car in for B service (same dealer) and now they state that the oil-level-sensor is leaking - about $675 labor and part

I asked the 'service advisor' and she indicated that the sensor itself is leaking (not the oring/gasket/seal).

This sounds a bit off to me. Replace the seal and 9 months later, the part is leaking? BTW, the sensor is working.

Car has just under 100k miles.
