Need Feedback Regarding Steering Wheel
This car had all the options I wanted except the wood/leather steering wheel. So I had the dealer order it and replace it. At first the burl walnut seemed the wrong color but is this ok? The wood trimmings on the side and the center where the radio is located is a light burl walnut color. The shifter and the area around the shifter gets darker, and so the wood on the steering tends to be almost a match with the shifter ****. See from the pic. Let me know what you think.... I mean its not ash wood - how many tones of burl walnut could there be?

my opinion it looks just fine...you may be just zero'd in on this issue due to your dealer ordering problems........
the wheel and shift **** tend to become darker with use anyway....any of us who go to the aftermarket
wood steering wheel/shift **** don't get 100% matches either...[IMG]

I am in the middle of ordering options/accessories on a CLK550, and there are 2 wood/leather steering wheels listed at
http://www.mbusa.com/byo/options.jsp...gModel=CLK550C
Step 2 Options and Step 3 Accessories. Different price, too.
I am also confused. If I find out when I place the order tomorrow, I will post it here.

Placed our order today. One wheel is hand polished, more expensive, the other is not.
When the factory builds a car with the wood/leather steering wheel option, they match the woods from several available wheels. Difficult for the dealer to do after the fact with only one wheel.
Sadly, the wood/leather wheel automatically deletes the shift paddles, but my wife does not mind.

That's what I figured out later. My car has lighter wood trims on the sides but at least the shifting **** matched the darker brown wood/leather steering wheel. I am actually happy with it. I think if the wood is too light for the steering wheel it might look a bit tacky.
Yes. You are correct about the two different color options. There is brown and ash. The ash is more like a very dark almost black wood. I've seen it at the car show we had last week here in Miami. But they only combine with with ash wood trimmings.
Post some pics when you get the car! You and your wife will love it!!
