Default lamp failure notification

Just yesterday, I started my 99 clk430 up and turned on the lights and all of a sudden, the lamp failure notification came on the dash. I got out and check all around the car for a light out and nothing. I have checked signals, both low and high beams, park lamps, driving lamps, tail lamps, and brake lamps and they all seem to work. Can anyone tell me what might be going on with this? I can hit the reset and it will go off until I turn my lights off and back on and it comes right back.

Scott,
The good news is that you will never be pulled over for having a marker or headlight out after you have had a nice dinner and a few cocktails. The real issue is that when a headlamp or a marker light is starting to have more resistance due to an eventual failure is that this warning will keep popping up. Untill you have the element fail it is hard to determine which one is the culprit. But once one fails it is certain that its mate is soon to go. So, when the bulb on the left front side quits replace the right one as well! This is one of the most aggrivating nuances of Benz technology.

Strange things happen with the failure notification. I agree a bulb is about to fail or is loose and sending info that it will fail shortly. Licence plate lights(2) are also part of the system.
This notifier also came on once when my battery was failing-go figure.
