Issue with Windows Automatically rolling down
I've tried searching but there are no previous posts.
My girlfriend's clk320 1999 convt.'s windows all go down automatically when driving or going through bumps. THis happens quite often, i'd say about 2-3 times per driving session, which is usually about 2 or 3 miles. Can someone please help me?
P.S. There is also a beeping noise "ding ding ding ding" then windows come down, and the soft top button flashes.
please excuse my terminologies....
Thanks

RE: Issue with Windows Automatically rolling down
There are more computers on board this car than Neil Armstrong had when he and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon in 1969! It seems as if the sensor that is activated by the top control switch is being tickled by a loose or corroded connection. The "ding, ding" is the cars warning system that says the vehicle is moving while the top retraction switch is activated. The windows lowering are part of the sequence of what the switch triggers when engaged. The best case scenario is that you have a bad switch or contacts, the worst case is that the computers that need to talk to each other about what is occurring are not happy and will need to be tested. Good luck. P.S. Do the windows want to go up when the top is down?

RE: Issue with Windows Automatically rolling down
Hi and thank you for your response.
When the top is down the windows work fine and there is no beeping.
How would I be able to check if the connection for the soft top switch is loose or corroded? Is there anything you would recommend to do if I wanted to check it myself. Also anything you can recommend on how to check these computers and where they might be? Would you know of where to find DIY guide or a good website to order a repair guide for this car (1999 CLK 320) to find pictures of the location for these unhappy computers?
Thanks again for your help.
