Hi eveybody, I need your input.
I think that Pirelli 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 are the perfect sizes for the CLK55 wheels.
The fronts are widely available, but I have been informed that Pirelli has discontinued the rear tire size. So now I have to take the risk of changing brands or tire size. The risks being, changing the ride, making the car look weird, buying the wrong tires, etc.
1) Will 245/40/17s look weird on the rear?
2) Michelin makes the sizes. Anyone have experience with the Michelin Pilot A/S tire?
3) What kind of tire do you like on YOUR Clk?

Ok, I bought the "Michelin Pilot A/S" tires.
I drive this car on public roads, not the track.
They have an all season tread, with a 400 treadwear rating.
They should last much longer than the Pirelli Pzeros.
I have the 17' AMG wheels. So I bought 225/45/17 for the front, and 255/40/17 for the rear.
Already the ride is whisper quiet. I think I'm going to like these tires.

I had my car raised in the air working on something else, and decided to inspect my new tires.
I gave them a spin, and noticed that they are NOT very round. I put an indicator on the rims, they run true within .003", but Yowser these tires runout' about .250" in one spot. Yet, it rides very smooth.
Could that be the spot that was touching the ground, when I raised the car up?
Does that spot even out when the tires get warm?

i'm on my second set of michelin PS2's. i love them....with the exception of the treadlife. i got about 18K out of my last set. i drive a lot, so that ends up being about a set a year. keep us up to date on the latest.
