Default CLK driver's seat motor dead?

Car: CLK 320 Elegance Year 2000 43,000 miles

Yesterday the driver's memory seat stopped moving forwards and backwards with no prior warning.
All other motorised movements are possible except forwards/backwards.

When pressing the toggle switch a clicking noise under the seat can be heard hence the fuse must be OK
There are no obstructions- coins mats etc. under the seat.

My business partner had the same problem on his CLK 320 at approx the same mileage but his was sorted out under warranty.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Is the seat motor totally dead or is it another problem?

Yes, I have this problem all the time. First you probably blew the fuse. It's in the trunk next to the spare tire. Second, Mercedes has had lots of problems with the 01 and 02 model year with these seat motors. Once they start blowing fuses the motor is not long for this world. Lots of peopl in the other MB forums report the same problem.
I think there are about 3 motors per seat. The main motor is the 1 that goes bad. I think the MB part number for it is 208 820 08 42. You should be able to buy it for around $130 and if you're mechanically enclined can replace it easily in your driveway.
