Default clk 320 factory alarm problem, suggestions appreciated

hi everyone,

i recently disconnected the battery in my 2000 clk 320 while i was away for a few months. after i reconnected the battery, my factory alarm now would go off (siren sounds and lights flash) everytime when i ARM it after i get out of the car and press the LOCk button on my my remote. when i press the lock button, only the front signals flash (rear ones don't anymore) and after they flash, the alarm would start to sound. the siren would also go off when the alarm arms itself about 30 seconds after the car doors are closed. i can still shut the siren off by pressing the unlock button on the remote.

basically it looks like all other functions work fine, except when the alarm is armed either automatically or manually, the siren would go off.

i checked all the fuses and didn't see problems there. tried disconnect and reconnect the battery in an attempt to reset the car's electrical system, but didn't help either.

if anyone has a solution or any suggestions, please help.

thanks,

terry

Its a 2000; It might be time to dump it, rather than spending a lot of money on repairs.

I am also getting the same issue in a 2002 CLK 430 - no problems after short journeys but after a long journey when i lock the door the alarm goes off - i have to manually lock the car. After it has been left a while - the problem is gone (until i have a longish journey again)

I just began having the same issue. I ordered a new horn thinking that the batter in the existing horn (they contain separate batteries) may be shorting out the system. However, reading these posts suggests to me that there is something more systemic. Has anyone solved their problem?[sm=icon_ladiesman.gif]

I took mine into the garage- it turned out that water had gotten into the connectors and corroded them - its quite a common problem. Can't remember what exactly but did not have to get a new horn but something else - was not to expensive.
