CLK 230 Convertible Roof Folding Wrong
Hello, I am hoping that I am not the only one who has experienced this problem. when opening my convertible roof it seems that the sequence stops and results in the roof jaming half way. What I mean is the first fold in the roof will not fold back by itself and I have to flick it back manually. When I do this the sequence continues and the roof is completely stowed. Similary when it closes it results in slamming shut.
Is there a micro switch adjustment and motor adjustment that I can test.
thanks Ric

Interesting. My CLK does the same thing. I basically have to give it a slight push when it starts to fold from the front back and then it also continues with the process. However, without the slight push, it will not fold back. I was wondering if this is a problem or if the tops actually require that initial push to get it started.
My top works the same - Driver's Manuel says that the top must be pushed up about eight inches prior to engaging the top down switch. I push my top until the front frame initially folds (this is about an eight inch push).
In response to your questions concerning CLK top operation, there are two cables attached to the convertible top header plate and running towards the cross bar forward of the rear window. Mercedes refers to these cables as shocks ( part #A2087701865). The cables are attached at front of top. To access, remove the vinyl panel inside of the header panel. First, remove the three millimeter internal hex that attaches the top handle. Then, remove two screws at each end of vinyl panel. Once the panel is removed, you can remove the forward end of the cable with a ten mm socket. The rear of the cable where the break has occurred has a push in plastic retainer that must be pushed rearward through the black metal crossbar. Once removed, the retainer will split in the middle allowing the new cable to be fitted within. Note: The cable must be routed through the crossbar prior to being fitted inside the retainer.

Thanks for the information on the cables. One of my cables are broken and I wanted to know how long it should take to replace both cables? Are there any adjustments that need to be made after the installation of the cables. Great info in your post.
