Default Chipping for CLK280

I have a 2006 CLK280 cabrio. It's a 2996cc V6 engine with rated output (kW/hp at rpm): 170/231 at 6000, rated torque (Nm at rpm): 300 at 2500~5000, acceleration (0~100km/hr): 7.8s and top Speed: 245 km/h. I would like to "chip" or "remap" my engine to achieve better accelaration and response time. Brabus quoted me USD 5k to chip it. Can I find out from owners who have "chip" their CLK's? Is it worth it? What performance will I get out of it? Thx. lc, Singapore.

$5k for a chip ...! Thats got to be a typo... Seriously, your'e kidding, right...? That's almost the cost
of a supercharger which will give you about 30 - 40% more horsepower... I'd find it hard to believe that
MB left enough in the programming of these engine computers for some company to be able to simply remap
a fuel curve and timing to get enough horsepower out of it to be asking $5k for the product...
I'd do a heck of alot of research on this before I dropped $5k on it...
