very dangerous! dealership replaced crankshaft position sensor last week and it did it again today.
2002 clk 320 with less than 30k mi.

My 1998 CLK has done this to me as well. Did you ever get it resolved? In my case, the check engine warning comes on with a beep, there is a noticeable shift (whisting what, I'm not sure). It happens to me more frequently in hot weather, resulting in stalls at lights sometimes.

 

It's a easy fix you can save lots of money if you do it yourself.It's located on the passenger side between the engine and transmission
It's really small part you can buy it at the dealer for about $150.00 or less and all you need is a small rachet and a size 8mm torqe sochet. I'll help you fix it if you live in the Los Angeles area email me it will take about 10mintues to fix .
