2002 CLK top closing question
Hi all Im a newbie on here. My 2002 CLK convertible top for the first time will not close all the way. The pin? on the back looks like it is supposd to pull the rear top down and closed but is not. It is definitly catching the top and holding it in place, but not pulling it closed. Also now it will not release, to open and the trunk will not open. Somthing is stuck
This is all related im sure. Ive never had a problem with the top before. Anyone have an opinion, if so Id like to hear it and would be much appreciative !!

You are correct. There is a defeat switch that prevents trunk from functioning if the roof is not fully closed or open.
Other question is are you read head restrains all the way down? If they are UP it would prevent roof function also.

Thanks ratanshah, You were correct the head rests were not all the way in the down position. Now that I have that corrected however, when I try and retract the top I get nothing, no sound not even a opening of the latches, fuzes?T hanks

If you are mechanically inclined here are options.
1. Hydrolic pump may be not generating enough pressure ( failed pump ).
2. Do your head rests go up and down? If they do it may failure of a seal in the system where fluid does not get to work the top but only head rests.

One other thing to check is in your trunk ( storage shelf for the top has to be in place for top to lower )
