I have a 2001 CLK 430.
Recently, I have opened the top and it is getting stuck right when the back of the trunk opens and just before it starts to fold into it. It usually folds right up (into the trunk) but now it just slams down on the front windshield frame and won't pull itself back into the trunk area.

Also, conversely when I attempt to close it from that same position, it will just slam itself into the windshield frame right by above the sunvisors.

I know I can manually open and close it, but this has never happened before. It is just stuck. Any thoughts or ideas how to fix this?

I'm a tennis player too, and I am experiencing same problem with the top slamming down to windshield. have you found the fix? thanks, catssr

 

There was no quick fix. With a Mercedes expect to pay a lot for repairs. I had to take it to a shop to get it fixed. It was a motor issue with the roof. Don't go to a dealer, find someone who works on Mercedes that doesn't charge dealer rates. It gets expensive. Good Luck.
