Default 04 CLK 500 Wheel lock

I call the dealership and they told me that they don't have locks for aftermarket rims. My rims has the Benz star in the middle I don't know there aftermarket but I assum that there OEM. I belive it's the chrome 18". I need to get the locks and don't know where to get them now.

Hi mate. Mercedes dealers probably won't have lockers for aftermarket wheels. I recently bought some 19" replica Carlsson rims for my CLK and was supplied new lockers for them as the bolts for my new rims are shorter than my original bolts. My new rims also came with Mercedes centre caps so it may be that your wheels are aftermarket. Are you saying that the wheels are on your car and you can't get them off?

Hi. I contacted a rim company near me and they said that you can buy lockers seperately. However, you need to make sure that the thread on your rims are the sane as the hub ( I'm assuming they must be as you have been using them with no problems?). You should be able to take one of your wheel bolts to a rim / mod company and get lockers. They willbe able to determinethe length and width of bolt you need and the tapering angle at the neck of the bolt (usually 60 degrees I think).

Thanks for all your help I'm going to take it to a rim shop. I just bought the vehicle so I'm new to the whole Benz thing that's why I thought It was OEM cause it has the star in the middle but the dealership said it never came in 18"s only 17"s and thought he mention that was an options. The salesperson where I bought the vehicle said there 18"s. I'm going to take meassure ment this weekend and really determine the size but looking at it. It does look like 18"s but I could be wrong because due to the tire size can always make the rim look bigger or smaller.

Hi mate,
Glad I could help alittle. If you want to know the rimsize, take a look at the side wall of the tyre - My tyres have 235/35/19 written on the side. The "235" refers to the width if the trye, the "35" refers to the profile of the tyre (the distance from the where the rim meets the inside of the tyre and the edge or the tyre that meets the ground), and the "19" referes to the size rim (in my case 19 inch).
Just as an after thought, I had some 17" Benz rims a while ago and they needed refurbishing as the laquer was lifting and they had been curbed alittle. When rims are refurbished, the edge of the rim is 'skimmed' in order to get a nice new rim edge. However, this also means that the wheel becomes smaller depending on how badly they have been curbed and how much needs to be shaved off. Don't get me wrong, they don't take mm's off, butpersonally I think you can notice. When I looked at my rims after they'd been refurbed, they did look smaller. They still took my 235/45/17 tyres but ,nonetheless, they were smaller (otherwisethey wouldn't have been able to get a nice new edge!).
I'm only telling you all this because it's always good to learn things, eh?!

Good luck withyour Benz and treat her nice!

Rash
