Default Sick to the back teeth of my A Class

It has done now 120,000 miles it cost me £7500 to buy in April 2003(Reg Feb 1999) with 37,500 miles on the clock and this is what it has needed done to it.

April 2004 62049 Alarm kept going off - new alarm £535
June 2004 63967 Timing chain snapped - new engine £2500 (full MBSH since I purchased)
April 2006 100243 Poor running - air mass meter New MSG Control Unit £869.76
May 2006 Wouldnt select 3rd or 5th Gear - thankfully checked some forums and discovered it was a small piece of plastic that cost £15. One dealership said it needed a new gearbox!

March 08 Slack ABS Sensor - quoted £560 to fix

Spent about £2000 - £3000 on servicing at Mercedes thinking that was best thing to do.

So this was my idea buy a decent car and then sell it on fora good price get another one probably better. Mercedes have such good reputation and love them old and new.

Reality in huge amounts of debt due to this car - keep hoping eventually it will pay me back. About to give up on it after 5 years. If I could burn it I would. Falling out of love with Mercedes faster by the day.

Bad luck or crap car?

120,000 miles... which other car would last that long with such a short list of problems?

With respect to other cars of that year and amount of milliage, your talking thousands to keep them running!
