CL600 "check engine" query
Has anyone experienced the "check engine" warning coming up when the car is low on fuel?
This happened to me today, there were still 3 gallons left in the tank when the warning appeared. The car drove normally, so I decided to fill the tank and this seemed to cure the problem.
I spoke with a technician at MB, who said that vapour caused by low fuel could lead to a misfire, which in turn would result in the warning message.
My query is why this should happen with 3 gallons still in the tank?
Has anyone else experienced this problem or other misfire issues?
(The car is being checked by MB tomorrow, but it would be nice to find out if the model is susceptible to this type of problem. The car is a 2002 model prior to the twin turbo model).

Just received the car back from Mercedes. They have upgraded the engine management software to the latest version, (I am informed that they have experienced the problem before with the model). Hope this helps someone.
i had one that had a issue with the syphon pump in the splash bowl, the engine would suck the splash bowl dry befor the syphon pump could fill it so when it was below 1/4 tank it caused it to run dry making it misfire, i had to put a fuel tank in it
