Your opinion on buying this beautiful 1998 C230
I am looking to buy a 1998 C230 with 128,912 miles. It is $1950. I have no experience with MB but have been learning all I can. I have owned an older "vintage" Volvo and Toyota Land Cruiser so I am familiar with the ins and outs of this type of purchase.
I am on a tight budget right now and but need a new car as mine hit a deer and was totaled. So $ is a concern for me and thusly potential maintenance costs.
The car is at a used car dealer and is in amazing cosmetic condition. I plan on doing a very thorough inspection today. I am not an expert on cars but have been learning how to do a good inspection in and out of the car and engine. Apparently the car had been well maintained and never had any major mechanical issues.
The dealer has replaced the ball joints and that is all they have done to it. I am trying to learn as much about the car's history as possible
It seems to me that if by 128,912 miles nothing in the car as proved to be "lemon" worthy then it may be one of those that goes for many miles without any real issues. And therefore can be trusted to have regular maintenance costs but not be a money pit.
It is brown, an automatic, 4 cylinders, aftermarket stereo and in beautiful visual shape.
If you please, give me your best guess opinion on the wisdom of this possible purchase.
Thank you
