Default World Premier Of The 45 mpg C-Class

Mercedes-Benz today has officially taken the wraps of their newest diesel engine generation – one that will be launched starting in autumn 2008. While the new engine will replace four of Mercedes' current diesel powerplants and be featured on a number of different Mercedes models, including the E-Class, the GLK-Class and the E-Class Coupé, the engine will first make its debut on the new C-Class pictured before you: a model that's being called the C 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Prime Edition.

This is the first time since the W201's debut that the C-Class has seen a diesel variant. My old 2.2L dieselgot tops 36mpg so 45mpg is very very impressive!!!

great mpg.
Even if diesel cost a bit more, the extra mileage makes it worth it.

This is really funny, 45 mpg diesel and they are so proud. I had a 1984 190D, it was rated 50 mpg back then. Loved that car but I rarely got over 48 mpg, most of the time I got about 42 mpg. I do look forward to the technology though, a 45 mpg C is what this country needs despite the fact that oil hit $78/barrel today, hmm, what is that, half of the peak back in July of $147. What I'm saying is people won't buy into it if fuel hits $2.50/gallon which it probably will temporarily for the election. Just wish itstayed at $5/gallon so that auto manufacturers don't get stuck with fuel efficient vehicles people won't buy.
