Is using a M104 tranny in a 190 feasable?

Just for future referrence. I'm aware that swapping a 190e/d motor with the M104 (C280) engine is possible with numerous different transmission possibilities such as the old 300e's. However, is it possible just to use the M104's tranny since you're using the engine also?

i dont see why it couldnt work, as long as you have all the control modules to make it run. you may have to do some custom fab to have it all mount up in a favorable way though. im actually in the early planning stages of swapping an M117 v8 with its original tranny into my 87 201 chassis. gonna be a lot of work, but a lot of fun too.

after actually think about this for a second it hit me. W201 chassis uses the 722.4 auto trans in all models and engine variants. the M104 uses either 722.4 or .6 tranny depending on the year. find one with the .4 and it should slide in like butter. even the .6 tranny housing is close enough that is should fit the same mounts.

yeah, im not quite sure yet how all the mechanical aspects of my swap are gonna work quite yet. its a lot of engine going into not a lot of space, but im sure it will be a lot of fun the whole way through, and even more fun when it gets finished.
just dont know what im gonna do with my 102 though, i just rebuilt the heads and it runs like a top, its such a shame to just toss it out.
