Default Turn Signal Bulb Replacement - Round 2

OK. So I was able to find out my mistake, and was able to remove the turn signal that is being reported as bad. Now I have run into this. I replaced the bulb and still no luck. The good right turn signal (including socket and bulb) will not work in the left turn signal. The left turn signal (new bulb and receptical) will not work in the right turn signal.

Are the recpticals different for left and right turn signal? They both look to be the same from what I can tell.

Thanks

Are you replacing the turn signal bulb in your actual headlight assembly, or the marker light on the left and right side of the bumper cover?

there is a repair kit available for the C class and it was a problem a few years back with a bad grounding in the headlamp and the new repair harness creates a new ground by removing a wire from the headlight connector and installing it into the new repair kit harness and then screw the new repair kit harness wire to a screw behind the headlamp assembly. thats probably your problem.

I am trying to replace the bulb in the headlight assembly.

How do I get a hold of the repair kit.

the dealer has it and a good parts man should know exactly what your talking about. it comes with a new bulb socket and a wire and a 2 pin connector. i can get the # for you just gotta give me a day or 2 and i have to remember. but the dealer should know what you mean when you tell them you need the repair kit for the turn signals. youll also need to know which wire to pull out of the connector to the headlamp. but i can get you that info. and youll need a pin removal tool to release the wire from the headlamp connector. it takes 5 mins to do if you have all the things you need.

My 02 C230 Coupe had this problem some time ago (while under warranty). As noted earlier, there was a problem with the harness. At the time of my problem no one had a clue but they do now. Both my turn signal harnesses were replaced. As well, years later the headlight harness was replaced. At the time there were no replacement headlight harnesses around due to demand so a sharp parts guy remembered that an ML harness will also fix the problem. You may need kits for the signals and the headlights. FYI

Is removal of the front bumper necessary for the installation of these kits?

It shouldn't take long. It took less than an hour at the dealer. No body parts are removed. I'm assuming these "kits" are simply wiring and sockets. The turn signals and the headlights are not removed.
