Question Towing a C230 6-speed

We just purchased a 2002 C230 Kompressor hatchback with a 6-speed manual transmission and would like to tow it behind a motorhome. However, we are getting mixed responses ranging from "that car wasn't designed to be towed" to "absolutely no problem with the 6-speed". These responses have come from mechanics at dealers (no problem) to an independent mechanic who has worked on our car (absolutely no problem) to the USA Mercedes Product Department (car wasn't designed to be towed). Has anyone out there had any experience flat towing a C230 6-speed manual?

You should be fine. Listen to the independents. Of course the dealership was going to say that. These are the same people who tell you your automatic transmission fluid is "lifetime".
Yeah, right. Believe that one and I have some beach-front property I'd like to sell you here in Phoenix.
