You know Lug, I would have sworn that was true. I thought sure it was Michlin, BF Goodrich, and Uniroyal. Then I saw this:
http://www.conti-online.com/generato...brands_en.html
I do not know how to relabel that link.
For those who do not want to click on over, I cannot copy and paste because of the graphics, but it says:
Brands from the Continental corporation...
Continental
General Tire
Uniroyal
And goes on to list several more.

Michelin owns the license for Uniroyal in the North America, while Continental has the license in Europe. So any Uniroyal tire purchased in North America will be a Michelin product.
i have encountered the same problem with my tires, there was a bubble in the sidewall and it actually weakened the tire enough to cause it to burst. I decided to raise hell with Continental and get a full refund. I immediatley took my car down to my friend's auto shop and wrapped my rims in BF Goodrich 285/40WR-18 Radial T/A's and it was the best choice i have ever made.
cheers!
cheers!
Well Benzo, if Continental had said to me that they would take care of this right away, and put a new tire on for me, then they would have had a customer for life.
Perhaps it was the need to raise hell with them that caused you to go elsewhere.
I have had remarkebly good experiences with BFG.

it wasnt the bubble that caused them to refund the cash, it was the fact that the bubble caused that tire to blow out. i complained at the dealership where i bought the car and then they negotiated with Continental, so i dont know if it was the dealership or Continental themselves who refunded me. Also, my family has a long history of buying Mercedes from that dealer so it wasnt really a problem. Maybe i'm a bad example but i do think that the blow-out persuaded them. If it had happened while the car was in motion then i could have sued Continental and i think that they anticipated that also.It could have been a million differant things. All in all, i have my BFG G-Force radial T/A's (click here) now and its a better car for it. Thats my advice, on ur next tire purchase get the BFG G-Force series, they're well worth the money. Also, i do need to clarify that currently i do not have a Mercedes. I did have an '03 C230 Kompressor (it was my first car, handed down used from my parents) but i gave it to my mother and she bought me a pick-up. It was the same as her buying a truck and trading me for the Benz. I had no choice but i know the car is in good hands. I would have kept it except that i need the truck to haul things and transport large amounts of materials and i just cant do that in a C-class. I know the car will be taken care of and once i get several issues resolved, i plan to purchase a C-350. It wont be for a while but i can wait. Please check out my other thread about a C-350 turbo conversion.
Wow.....somebody has way too much free time on their hands. I found this entire post interesting, hilarious, and revolting.
Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with Continental. I did not realize they had such a bad rap. I will be needing new tires for my C320 wagon very soon. My wife and kids are in this car regularly, so I would appreciate an honest recommendation about safe and reliable tires.
By the way, some of you are funny as hell!
Regards.
