I have just a stock tape player with AM-FM in my 2001 Mercedes Benz c230. It is factory and I would like to buy a Mercedes CD player. What year models are comparible. Also, it looks like my year had a optional cd player/Navigation unit on it as well that you had to load with navigational software cds.

I know someone that has a CD player out of a 2006 would that work? My player has an empty space/holder underneath the tape player so I know a larger unit would just fill that space in. Assuming it would fit o.k. are the plugs to the unit the same or is wiring going to be an issue?

If anyone has one to sell I am willing to make an offer!
