I have a 2004 Mercedes Kompressor C230 and I had the sunroof shut when I went out. I went through one of those drive through non-touch car washes and now my sunroof will not shut at all. Is there a manual way to shut it?

Did you notice this immediately after you went through the carwash? Are you sure the carwash isn't just a coincidence and maybe it could have happened some time before? You should start with the basics like checking the fuses and re-syncing the sunroof (explained in your manual).

 

Yes, I noticed this immediately after the car wash. I opened the panoramic sunroof and then it was just too windy, so I wanted to shut it and have the tilt up. It almost sounded like a door that needed WD40, like a sweeky grinding noise. When I bought the car, the Mercedes dealership did not give me a manual, so I am going to try to get one off Ebay this weekend. I had never noticed this before, the roof always shut. I made an appointment with the dealership Tuesday by using their online service, but it is 2 hours from my house and thought I could avoid having to leave work early...so I also called a sunroof specialist here in Yuba City and he said that people's first tendency is to keep opening and shutting the sunroof to make it shut, but that could make it worse. He said to leave it alone. He is going to check it out tomorrow to see if any damage could be caused by trying to manually shut it. He told me that I could break the roof if I manually shut it. I have had the car only two months and I am pretty frustrated.
