star_expert keyswitch stuck
Got into the 94 c220 this morning and tried turning the key and it is stuck. I can turn it a bit and a bit farther when i move the steering wheel. It appears to be the parking position switch if i had to take a guess. Is there anyway I can override the switch or test it if it is. The key does move in the tumblers and off the locked position but stops and will not turn further. I see 2 wires going into the front of the lever housing and need help identifying them or the right ones. Is it a magnetic switch or a mechanical one? Whatever insight you can give me would be helpfull.
further investigation, I removed the console and got to the mechasm that locks the gearshift lever. When I move the key in the lock i see a bit of movement on the cable. I can move the key past the steering wheel locking mechasm but then is stops by some other lock or pin. The cable appears to want to push out on the gearshift linkage. Are there any other interlocks on the ignition switch. It has been working flawlessly without even a rough spot till this morning.
