Shopping Help
Hi,
I recently test drove the C-280 4Matic and decided that I want to lease one. I buying advice though.
2007 c-280. Black/STONE. The Dealership doesn't have the leather seats but the MB Tex. I have no idea what the MB Tex looks like because all their showroom cars have the full leather package. I'm getting it base with no options.
I've researched the car on several sites: edmunds, autobytel, and cars.com. They all have different invoice prices. Wondering what price I should work off.
I will be buying the car in NJ or NY.

I think you will like the MB Tex. Looks good to me.
ALWAYS work from the invoice price UP, not from the MSRP down.
Remember, even if they sold you the car "at invoice", they would still be making plenty on the dealer holdback, incentives, etc.
plus options (if you didn't get them for invoice as well), and all the "back end" stuff, like window tinting (always overpriced), protection packages (a total waste), alarm system like a LoJack (huge profit there), different wheels (grossly overpriced), various types of paint sealants (a total waste), undercoating (a joke), extended warranties (up to you, depending on several things), and a ton of other things
I can't even begin to get into. My advice for the very best deal: Lowball them and walk out of the showroom. Until you do that, you'll never know if you paid too much. 99% of the time they come after you. If they don't, you go to another dealer. Simple. Works every time for me. I saved $8,000 on a car doing that. No kiddin'. Eight grand! Good luck.

I just did the same thing as you are looking at, last Saturday.
Got my first Mercedes, an 07 C280 4Matic. I love it.
Not sure what kind of deal I got, I leased it for 39 months, and got a $2500 discount off of msrp, plus they have a $1000 rebate to the dealer that I got off.
It has the Mb Tex and that stuff is very nice. Not as plush as leather but much more durable, still very good looking too. Feels good, keeps me stuck nicely to the seat. :-)
This car came fairly loaded, it has the sunroof package stuff, and the Nav, the entertainment pkg and the Sirius.
I think that I want all of those options on any car I get from now on. It's very nice to never worry about getting lost. The nav works GREAT. I tested it. It talks to you, and automatically ( quickly ) recalculates the route and keeps you going toward the destination, no matter how many wrong turns you make.
Plus, being able to listen to anything from Blues/Jazz to Symphony and Opera, all at the touch of a steering wheel, coming out of the upgraded sound system, is a JOY.
My only regret is the lack of good bluetooth support. I believe this car is prewired for it, but I didn't get the cradle or anything, because there is such limited options for phones. I have a palm Treo with Cingular and that very common phone will not work with the MB command center, so I am without bluetooth. I think MB can use some improvement in that area.
Make sure you keep an eye on the Financial person though, while they are figuring out your payments. hahaha.
But I think MB has some excellent lease deals because they inflate the residual and have a very low money factor.
Peace,
Floyd
