Sounds like I need a bicycle tire pump filler hose to attach to the valve and devert the fuel to a collection area (a bottle?). How does the MB tech do it?

I don't know how the techs do it. sleepwalker? The only thing I've connected to it is a pressure gauge (no outlet). I think you're on the right track, though, for a homemade device.

If it's not really bad, that is, if it doesn't have lots of water in it, why not try an additive like STP Gas Treatment or some other brand that removes moisture from gas?

Just to add to this, my 99 C280 does this as well, but only when its cold.

Shakes, but doesn't die, after a few seconds, its fine and drives fine. No warning lights come on. Very strange.

I am currently having a leaky valve cover gasket replaced, new spark plugs, and fuel filter, and they are going to sell me some fuel injector cleaner.

I'll keep you posted...

Thanks for all the advice ....... here is what I've done so far. Car started to fail more often, sometimes 5+ times a day, always when stopping at a light. I decided to take it to a European Specialist. Technician experienced/noticed fault while driving me to work. They could not duplicate it. The computer showed close to 12 issues but none related to my problem they mentioned that it was probablly that previous owner had battery replaced. They cleaned all memory and now troubleshooted again. Now everything seems fine, again they could not duplicate stalling. The car has been running just fine -24 hours now-.

Does clearing the memory has any effect on this kind of problems? Does clearing the memory has some kind of "magic" effect or is it merely coincidence?

Is there any computer that can help me do the diagnostic on my own, where do I get info on doing this? Any assistance to find out how to do it and where to get this computer will be appreciated!!

By the way; I'm $140 poorer which it does not sound that bad if that fixed the problem. If not I'll be upset.

Thanks!

The Mercedes dealership has had my car for 4 days and they cannot duplicate the problem. I will probably get it back with nothing fixed. They think I'm insane.
